10 years Wine Campus
Around 200 guests came to the Wine Campus Neustadt on February 3, 2020 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the academic institution. "As Germany's first dual degree course in viticulture and Enology, the Wine Campus Neustadt is now an absolute model for success," emphasized Minister President Malu Dreyer in her speech, congratulating the Wine Campus Neustadt on the establishment of the new German-French Master's degree course.
Former Minister President of Rhineland-Palatinate Kurt Beck was also among the well-wishers. He had launched the "Wine Campus Neustadt" project 10 years ago. It was therefore a matter close to his heart to congratulate the Wine Campus on its anniversary, said Beck on the sidelines of the event. The Mayor of Neustadt, Marc Weigel, also offered his congratulations and described the Wine Campus "as a plant that we want to continue to make blossom together."
As a representative of the three universities involved in the Wine Campus, Prof. Dr. Peter Mudra, President of the Ludwigshafen University of Business and Society, congratulated the Wine Campus as a "force field of wine sciences". The expertise of three universities combined with the industry knowledge and infrastructure of the Rural Area Service Center (DLR) Rhenish Palatinate enables a transfer of knowledge with a high level of practical relevance, said Mudra. Since its foundation in 2009, the dual degree program in Viticulture and Enology Rhineland-Palatinate has developed into a prestigious and flagship project of dual education policy.
One focus of the celebrations on Monday was on the topic of "Wine Campus International". The reason for this was the recent launch of the new Master's degree program in Viticulture and Enology. From September 2020, the Wine Campus Neustadt will offer the dual Master's degree program Franco-AllemandViticultureet Enology(FAVO) together with the Faculté de Marketing et d'Agrosciences of the Université de Haute-Alsace in Colmar. Students learn the German and French aspects of Enology in German and French at both locations and spend parts of the four-semester course in cooperating companies in Rhineland-Palatinate and Alsace. The language skills required for a binational course of study are taught in the Master's program. Minister President Malu Dreyer welcomed this decision and said: "Where, if not here, is the right place to launch a Franco-German degree course?"
At the end of the event, former student and Palatinate Wine Queen Inga Storck presented the new anniversary wine NEO together with MBA student Pauline Baumberger. The new wine line comprises a total of three wines: a NEO Riesling, a NEO Pinot Blanc and a NEO WIEEINPORT.
