New "mobility-on-demand" stop at the Wine Campus
Since 01.01.2022, students at the Wine Campus Neustadt are even better connected to Neustadt and the Wine Route. The mobility-on-demand service is a new type of transport service "Made in Neustadt" that offers environmentally friendly, cost-effective and flexible travel throughout the city and all districts.
The Neustadt-based start-up "Mobiltity-on-demand" has set itself the goal of rethinking mobility in rural areas. The company has been supplementing public transport since April 2021. Unlike buses, however, the vehicles only run when they are requested. There are no fixed routes; the electric vehicles operate in a very dense network of stops (MoDstops). One such MoDStop was set up in January at the bus stop on the grounds of the Rural Area Service Center (DLR) Rheinpfalz Palatinate. There are a total of 14 stops in Mussbach.
The Mobility-on-Demand concept is sustainable and environmentally friendly. Only electric vehicles that are charged with electricity from 100% renewable energy sources are used . In addition, where possible, the journey is shared with other passengers who have a similar route. This reduces traffic without sacrificing flexibility.
To use Mobility-on-demand, you need to register on the MoD app. The MoD app can be downloaded from the App Store (Apple) or Play Store (Google).
The cost of a ride with the Mobility on Demand service is cheaper than a cab ride. You can also save money with a VRN ticket:
- Price per journey = base price (€2.00) plus kilometers travelled (€0.55)
- With a valid VRN ticket, you save €1.40 plus €0.25 per kilometer
- Example: MoDstop "Schütt" to "Haardter Schloss" = €3.82 standard fare, €1.92 with VRN ticket. Without VRN ticket, but with BahnCard: €3.35 (25% of the above discount = €0.47).
- Billing is per air kilometer after the first kilometer to the nearest 100 meters.
