From reacting to shaping - that was the motto of this year's 75th Palatinate Winegrowing Days. The two-day event provided interesting insights into new research projects at the Wine Campus Neustadt. One focus this year was on the topic of sustainability. In his presentation, Prof. Dr. Dominik Durner dealt with the carbon footprint of wine packaging and bottle storage, for example. Prof. Dr. Marc Dreßler dedicated his presentation to the topic of "Innovation and sustainability - PIWI as an example of a strategic approach".
As every year, the event concluded with a professional wine tasting with Prof. Dr. Ulrich Fischer. This year, he joined Dr. Pascal Wegmann-Herr and sommelier Johannes Lochner to discuss the "Stylistics of Palatinate Rieslings - origin, signature of the winemaker and value in the context of the quality classification of the new wine law". A total of nine expressive Rieslings from Palatinate winemakers were tasted. Viewers were able to follow the online wine tasting via live stream. A wine package with the nine tasted wines could be ordered in advance.
Up to 1300 participants followed the live stream of the Palatinate Winegrowing Days on both days. The organizers were very pleased with the interest and popularity of the new online format in the wine industry.
