Laurot is a representative of the so-called PIWI grape varieties. Fungus-resistant vines (PIWI) are considered to be sustainable and environmentally friendly, as they have a remarkably good resistance to major fungal diseases. With these pioneering characteristics, this trailblazer fits perfectly into the NEO wine line!
After the grape harvest in the fall of 2022, the small, blue-black berries were fermented on the skins for 7 days and gently pressed. The young wine then went straight into barrique barrels. After maturing for over a year in wooden barrels, the wine was filtered and bottled.
Our "NEO Pionier" presents this new grape variety in its pure form - without the addition of other grapes. Deep dark in color, its taste lies between the red wine varieties St. Laurent and Merlot. The nose reveals a spicy aroma of wild berries and blueberries with a soft tannin structure. It is a great accompaniment to mildly spiced grilled dishes, roast beef or lamb, strong cheeses or even dark chocolate.
